Job Details

Basic Function :

Supervises and coordinates with Material Handling activities on the BASE and ensures efficient and safe loading/offloading shifting and stacking of tenants/customers materials on/off board vessels and track to/from warehouses and material yards.  Ensure timely response to tenants sport hire request for manpower and equipment. Investigates and resolves operational issues and coordinates with Port Services Coordinator on vessel berthage.  Maintains close liaison with tenants representative and ensure prompt attendance to their requirements and solutions of discrepancies.

 

Work Performed:

Plans, supervises and direct the activities of assigned personnel in the Materials Handling.  Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.

Participate with the Operations Services Manager in the development and formulation of an integrated strategy for the provision of efficient and safe customer focussed Materials Handling Services to tenants and other Base users.  Includes recommending and implementing policies, procedures and performance standards.  Ensures that work activities are conducted in a safe manner by developing, maintaining and ensuring observance to HSE&Q Management System.

 

Coordinate and supervise the development and implementation of material handling programmes.  Includes maintaining very close contacts with subordinate supervisors and tenant's representatives to ensure timely loading, offloading and shifting of materials, resolving problems as they arise, and ensuring effective utilisation of equipment and manpower.  Maintains liaison, as appropriate with other sections and departments in the Company to coordinate with services.

 

Ensure availability of sufficient manpower and efficient equipment fleet to meet the Section's operational requirements.  Ensures procurement of sufficient stocks of lifting gear and other consumables utilised by the section.  Prepares requisitions to maintain/repair equipment and/or the procurement of additional manpower, equipment and spares.  Follows up with Operations Services Manager for early procurement of requirements.

        

Oversees the activities of Shift/Cargo supervisors to ensure timely movement of materials between Jetty and various destinations and on/off waiting vessels to meet customer needs.  Plans and allocates work and personally witnesses complex operations.

 

Supervises the activities of Equipment Foreman involved in inspection and maintenance follow up on Company mobile equipment.  Directs the preparation of equipment for semi annual inspection and annual certification of lifting equipment by third party surveyor.  Ensures that administrative matters related to Company equipment are carried out on time.  Includes registration and insurance, liaising and cooperating with local police authorities on investigation of accidents involving company equipment and vehicles.  Ensures that Operators registrations and licenses are current and renewed in good time.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

·          University graduate in any discipline, followed by 2 years' formal training leading to a commercial or technical Diploma.

·          10 years experience in material management in oil production/drilling environment.  Including 5 years' at a supervisory level.

·          Knowledge of computerized materials control system.

·          Very good written and spoken English.

 

·          Very good knowledgee of PC operation & application.
